Four helicopters released to evacuate crew of PT NUH helicopter

The SAR group is yet to evacuate team members of the helicopter carrying food packs to Baya Biru, Pania District

Timika, Papua – Four helicopters were released to evacuate crew members of the helicopter of PT National Energy Helicopters (NUH) that made an emergency situation landing in a forest in Paniai District, Papua Province.

One of the helicopters flew to the scene yesterday afternoon, while three others left from Timika District just this morning at 6 a.m. local time, Chief of Search and Rescue (SAR) Office in Timika, Monce Brury, specified on Saturday.

The 4 helicopters are owned by the Mimika district administration, PT Intan Angkasa Air Service, PT Freeport Indonesia, and the Indonesian Flying Force (TNI AU).

The joint SAR group in Biak and Nabire assisted in the evacuation of PT NUH helicopter’s crew members, he said.

” We, the SAR team from Timika, only assistance (the evacuation) by reporting the helicopters flying from Toimia to the scene. The personnel and others are under the control of the SAR workplace in Bika with the jurisdiction covering Nabire and Paniay,” he specified.

Chief of the SAR workplace in Biak, Gusti Anwar Mulyadi had actually previously specified that the helicopter, owned by PT NUH, was discovered 4,700 meters above sea level in Paniai District on Friday (Sept 18).

” The SAR team is yet to leave team members of the helicopter bring food products to Baya Biru, Pania District,” he noted.

The helicopter, which lost contact on Thursday (Sept 17) on its flight from Nabire to Baya Biru, was found by a SAR helicopter flying from Enarotali to Nabire.
