Jakarta – The Indonesian federal government has protected the procurement of the COVID-19 vaccine for 135 million people till 2021, a minister revealed.
” In the preparation for 2021, an overall of around 270 million (dosages) are currently protected for satisfying the requirements of 135 million individuals. The rest will continue to be pushed for in 2022,” Airlangga Hartarto, the chair of the Committee for COVID-19 Reaction and National Economic Healing, concurrently coordinating minister for economic affairs, stated here on Monday.
The government will prioritize vaccination for healthcare employees, the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI), Indonesian Cops (Polri), other legal enforcement officers, and civil services, amounting to 3.4 million individuals, with a requirement for 6.9 million dosages of the vaccine,” he said after participating in an online limited cabinet conference held to discuss reports of the Committee.
A total of 6,995,474 doses of the vaccine will be needed for 3,497,737 individuals making up healthcare workers, military and cops workers, other legal enforcers, and public service officers; 11,248 dosages of vaccine for 5,624,010 people consisting of community and spiritual leaders, local apparatus, and economic stars; and 8,722,394 dosages of the vaccine for 4,361,197 people comprising instructors and lecturers.
Moreover, as lots of as 4,611,734 dosages of the vaccine will be needed for 2,305,689 federal government officials and legislators; 173,245,734 doses of vaccines for 86,622,867 PBJS health insurance participants; and 115,097,000 dosages for 57,548,500 other individuals in the age group of 19-59 years.
The total figure of people targeted to receive the vaccine reaches 160 million, and the variety of vaccines provided reaches 320 million dosages.
” In connection with the procurement of vaccines, the government has actually released Presidential Decree No. 99 of 2020 on Vaccine Procurement. The government has made preparations for the procurement of vaccines, and currently, the minister of health and the minister of state business (BUMN) are in the last of settlements with Astra Zeneca, as we are preparing to acquire 100 million doses. A down payment of 50 percent, or US$250 million (or around Rp3.7 trillion) is required,” he specified.

” It is approximated that in December, it will get 15 million doses from Sinopharm and 50 million doses next year. Next year, it is prepared to get 15 million dosages from Cansino and 100 million dosages from Astra Zeneca,” he revealed.
