Berlin’s IFA tech conference will proceed in-person this September– with cautions

After months of news about massive event cancelations, Berlin-based mega-conference IFA announced today that it will proceed with a prepared in-person event, from September 3 to 5. With the future of the COVID-19 pandemic still unpredictable all over the world, the show will feature some major caveats.

Those include: IFA NEXT fulfills IFA SHIFT Mobility, IFA International Markets and IFA Company, Retail & Fulfilling Lounges. A fourth event, the Virtual IFA Experience, will be held online, in keeping with many of the rest of the conference world.

Each event will be restricted to 1,000 guests per day. “While the organizers hope that the general public health circumstance will improve in between now and September,” organizers compose, “they have decided to err on the side of care and meet the strictest security standards possible.”

IFA, which is fairly unique in being open to the public, will now be invite-only.

If it goes on as prepared, IFA will be one of the very first significant tech reveals to be held in-person since CES in January. Today, especially, was set to be the first day of Build, an event that Microsoft moved online, in keeping with moves of much of the rest of the market.
