AMC anticipates to resume all international theaters in three weeks

AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc said on Thursday it anticipates all its international theaters to resume operations in the next two to three weeks, while two-thirds or more of its United States theaters are set to resume later on this month.

Cinema across the world were shuttered given that mid-March when a number of countries imposed strict lockdowns and social distancing procedures to restrict the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

” We currently have resumed operations in more than 130 theaters in all of the countries we serve in Europe and the Middle East. That is more than one-third of our worldwide theaters,” Ceo Adam Aron stated.

The world’s largest theater chain’s plans come as studios push to make their films available in living spaces earlier than the typical timeline of roughly 90 days after they debut in movie theaters.

Recently, AMC and Comcast Corp’s Universal Pictures consented to a significant shift that will enable the studio’s motion pictures to be provided to United States audiences at home after just 3 weekends in cinemas.

Walt Disney Co said on Tuesday its live-action epic Mulan will skip the majority of the world’s theater and go straight to its streaming platform in September, due to unpredictability about when big movie theater chains will resume.
