COVID-19 Cluster at TNI School an Anomaly: Ridwan Kamil

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil considered the COVID-19 transmission case at the Indonesian Military’s (TNI) Officer Candidate School or Secapa in Bandung an extraordinary event and an anomaly.

“We call it an anomaly because it is not a pattern that we routinely map out,” said Ridwan in Bandung, Friday, July 10.

The government’s spokesman for COVID-19 handling, Achmad Yurianto, previously reported there were 1,262 positive cases in the military school.

Ridwan apologized for the high novel coronavirus cases at the education institution. “We are sorry that this incident becomes the source of an extraordinary surge of infections.”

According to him, immediate action has been taken to contain virus transmission in the area. He also highlighted the importance of anticipating the impact of virus spread in educational institutions as students hailed from various regions.

Ridwan Kamil added the West Java provincial government and the Bandung city administration had agreed to conduct COVID-19 tests on residents around the military school.

“This is mandatory, people cannot refuse it. It will be carried out by Pak [Bandung] Mayor immediately,” he said.
