Jakarta Logs 952 New COVID-19 Cases; Overall Nearly Hits 100,000

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The Jakarta Health Agency’s head of disease control and prevention, Dwi Oktavia, announced that the capital had recorded 952 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, October 23: with 852 of them from today’s PCR swab tests and 100 from previous cases. 

“The total number of additional positive cases amounted to 952 cases because of 100 cases that were accumulated from October 21,” Dwi Oktavia wrote in a statement on October 23. 

The agency announced there were 10,590 people who underwent PCR tests today with 8,457 of them classified as new cases and 852 testing positive, while 7,629 tested negative. 

To this day, Jakarta has recorded a total of 99,158 cases with 12,590 testing positive and are still being treated or isolated, 2,138 deaths, and 84,430 have recovered from COVID-19.

Dwi Oktavia said Jakarta’s positivity rate for the past week recorded 10.5 percent, while it recorded 8.4 percent in total. She also reported Jakarta’s recovery rate had reached 85.1 percent, while mortality rate was at 2.2 percent, which was well below what the World Health Organization (WHO) had set.
