Jakarta, West Java, and East Java Record Soaring COVID-19 Cases

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Indonesian COVID-19 task force spokesperson, Wiku Adisasmito, on Tuesday, Sept. 8, announced that three provinces in Indonesia recently recorded high infection rates, which include Jakarta, West Java, and East Java.

“We have given our utmost attention to these three provinces that have recorded a pretty high [infection rate] which consists of Jakarta, West Java, and East Java,” said Wiku in today’s press conference.

Based on the task force’s records up until Sunday, September 6, Jakarta recorded 46,333 cases, West Java recorded 35,643 cases, and East Java recorded 15,351 cases.

From a total of 11 cities and regencies with over 1,000 active cases, 10 of them come from the three aforementioned provinces. In terms of mitigating this issue, Jakarta has prepared self-isolation facilities in two Wisma Atlet Hospital’s towers in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

As of West Java, Wiku said PCR tests have been increased to over 50,000 tests each week and have ordered stricter health protocols for industrial area management as he said “Industries has the potential to [contribute] in the spread of [infections].”
