Jokowi Highlights Public Communication on Vaccination in Recent Meeting

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, in Monday’s limited meeting at the Merdeka Palace, requested for the state-owned enterprises (SOEs) minister Erick Thohir to construct a strategy on how to communicate the government’s COVID-19 vaccination towards the public.

“This is extremely important, once again I ask for a well-prepared public communication strategy,” said the president during the meeting on October 26. “I ask for the team under SOEs Minister to come up with this communication strategy and must be backed up by the communication and informatics ministry [Kominfo].”

As if referring to the government’s lackluster public communication in the passing of the omnibus job creation law, President Jokowi does not want to see another rampant spread of misinformation and hoaxes in the dissemination of the vaccination program.

Reports from the meeting also suggest that he had called for the involvement of religious organizations such as the Indonesia Ulema Council (MUI), Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), and Muhammadiyah in disseminating the vaccination program.
