Transitional PSBB; Jakarta Logs 1,054 New COVID-19 Cases Today

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Jakarta reported an increasing number of people contracting COVID-19 with 1,054 new confirmed cases. The city’s Health Agency Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division, Dwi Oktavia, said the new cases were found following the testing on 11,963 specimens.

“A total of 9,570 people were tested for PCR today, and 1,054 results turn back positive and the rest 8,516 results are negative,” said Dwi in a written statement on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

With the additional infections, the capital city recorded 89,228 cases of coronavirus disease to date. From the figure, 13,551 patients were still being treated or in isolation, 1,944 patients succumbed to the illness, and 73,733 people had made full recovery.

“The recovery rate is 82.6 percent, and the death rate is 2.2 percent,” Dwi added.

During the Large-Scale Social Restrictions or PSBB beginning September 14, the average number of new daily cases in the capital remained above a thousand.

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan then decided to relax the policy into the transitional PSBB from October 12-25, 2020. According to Anies, there was a downtrend in the number of new active cases albeit the hike in COVID-19 transmission.
