Indonesia to Distribute AstraZeneca Vaccine on Monday

Jakarta. The Indonesian Health Ministry will start dispersing Covid-19 vaccine developed by UK pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca on Monday after it was put on a hold-up amid reports of embolism in Europe.

The World Health Company and the European Medicines Company (EMA) have stated there was no proof of a link between the vaccine and the reported embolism.

Health Ministry spokesperson Siti Nadia Tarmizi said the vaccine will be distributed across the nation after the Drug and Food Supervisory Company (BPOM) raised the suspension on Friday.

” As the implementer of the nationwide vaccination drive, we will start dispersing AstraZeneca vaccine throughout Indonesia on Monday,” Siti stated in a video conference in Jakarta.

She expressed self-confidence that all 1.1 million dosages of AstraZeneca vaccine in stock will be administered prior to they expire in late May.

” We are currently able to administer as much as 250,000 doses of vaccine each day,” she stated.

Speaking separately, BPOM spokeswoman Lucia Rizka Andalusia said the agency has consulted with the WHO and health authorities in other nations about the security of AstraZeneca vaccine, following reports of embolism after they vaccine was administered.

She indicated EMA’s conclusion on Thursday that “the benefits of the vaccine in combating the still prevalent danger of Covid-19 continue to exceed the danger of negative effects”.

Lucia said Indonesia received AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in South Korea through multilateral plan Covax.
