Jayapura, Papua – The General Elections Commission (KPU) authority in the Indonesian Province of Papua revealed that one of its members had contracted the novel coronavirus illness (COVID-19) and was under hospitalization at a regional center.

” Currently, the commission’s member is getting treatment in the hospital’s isolation ward,” Secretary of the KPU-Papua Provincial Workplace Ryllo Ashuri Panay alerted regional reporters in Jayapura, the capital of Papua Province, on Wednesday.

In stopping the potential transmission of COVID-19, the commission authority will spray disinfectant at the KPU office; arrange swab tests for the commission’s members and employees at its secretariat; and initiate a work-from-home (WFH) policy.

The WFH policy will enter into impact from Sept 10 to Sept 17, Panay said.

The KPU workplaces in nine provinces, 224 districts, and 37 cities are busy dealing with all stages of the simultaneous local elections, scheduled on December 9, 2020.
