Program HN: Publish an RSS feed of your life

Hi everybody,

I’ve been constructing a less bad method to share images and videos out to family and friends: https://vzg.me

The inspiration is individual for me since …

1. I’m not comfortable utilizing Facebook properties

2. Group SMS/email leaves control with more than a few receivers

3. I don’t want to persuade my friends and household to download a new app or figure out shared albums

So I developed a system that lets my network subscribe to specific individuals in my household and get updates via email, SMS, or RSS at the frequency of their choosing (immediate, day-to-day, or weekly). Customers simply decide in like a newsletter; they do not have to download or sign up for anything.

Here’s an example of a public feed

And its matching RSS

A few features I believe are cool:

1. If your subscribers select SMS, they can push photos and remarks to your feed by simply texting them to the vzg phone number. Basically grandmother texts a photo of Timmy and it immediately gets sent out to all of his customers (after your approval).

2. You can link your Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube accounts to have anything you publish there get added to your vzg feed and notified out to customers

3. You can handle multiple feeds with your account and have various sets of customers for each. I established separate ones for my kids to have a nice visual timeline for each of them and hopefully at some point pass along ownership of their feeds.

I hope a few of you discover it beneficial.
