7,160 Doses of Covid-19 Vaccine Land in West Papua

IDNEWSNOW.COM, West Papua – West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan today, Jan.5, accompanied by the Regional Police Chief and the XVII/Cendrawasih Military Commander picked up 7,160 doses of Covid-19 vaccine for the province in Rendani Manokwari Airport.

“We have received four bags containing 7,160 vaccine vials for West Papua that are immediately secured in a designated place while waiting for the emergency use permit from the West Papua Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM),” said Mandacan.

According to him, the first batch of the antibody will be prioritized for health workers treating patients diagnosed with coronavirus disease in Manokwari and Sorong. If the doses are sufficient, the rest will be allocated for people working in public services such as military or police personnel and banking employees.

“The doses are not enough so we wisely prioritize health workers in Manokwari and Sorong that record a high number of positive cases in West Papua,” Governor Mandacan added.

West Papua Health Agency Head, Otto Parorongan, reiterated that the Covid-19 vaccine would be given to health workers who had registered via a health information system application dubbed SISMK. “Until now, 9,047 medical workers have registered and the number keeps growing,” said Parorongan.
