All Gatherings Held during PSBB Subject to Sanction: Jakarta

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta –  The Jakarta provincial administration ensured that all mass gatherings that were held in the capital city during the Transitional Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) would be subject to sanctions, including those in Tebet and Pondok Ranggon.

“In principle, violators will be sanctioned. [We are] checking everything again. So all are given sanction,” said the city Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria in City Hall on Thursday, November 20.

Riza explained that sanctions for crowds in Tebet and Pondok Ranggon would likely be in the form of fines and would be managed by the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP). “Yes, that’s right. There will be fines,” he confirmed.

The city administration had imposed a fine of Rp50 million on the FPI leader Rizieq Shihab for large events of the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday and the wedding reception of Shihab’s daughter in Petamburan on Saturday amid the Transitional PSBB.

Since Rizieq’s return, events that attracted huge crowds occurred in Jakarta, not only in Petamburan but also in Tebet and Pondok Ranggon.

Jakarta decided to impose sanctions based on Gubernatorial Regulation No. 79/2020 concerning the discipline and law enforcement of the health protocol in efforts to prevent and control Covid-19.
