Erick Thohir Receives Eight Million Doses of Sinovac Vaccine

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Indonesia received eight million doses of bulk vaccine from Sinovac on Monday, May 31, 2021. With the additional doses, Indonesia has so far received 92,910,500 doses of vaccine in total—81 million doses of which were bulk vaccine.

State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir commented on the vaccine arrival that the government would continue to intensify vaccination in the country.

“To date, 26.9 million people have been vaccinated. And we will increase the number,” Erick said when waiting for the delivery of the vaccine at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten, Monday, May 31, 2021.

In order to reach herd immunity, Indonesia needs 181.5 million doses of vaccine to inoculate 70 percent of its total population, which encompasses health workers in the first stage, followed by elderly people and public employees, which comprise approximately 40 million people, in the second stage.

The government also call on people to abide by the health protocols by using face masks, maintaining physical distancing, and washing hands with soap regularly.
