Govt Suspects Authority’s Involvement in Death of Papuan Pastor

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The Intan Jaya fact-finding team (TGPF Intan Jaya) announced on Wednesday, October 20, that they found a lead that alleges the involvement of Indonesian security forces in the death of Papuan pastor Yeremias Zanambani on September 19, 2020.

“Information and the facts that were collected in the field show alleged involvements from authorities. Even though there is a possibility that it was acted out by a third party,” said Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law, and Security Mahfud MD as he announced the investigation preliminary report today.

However, Mahfud MD was tight-lipped about the possibilities of who the perpetrators might be. He asserted that the TGPF is only authorized to collect information and leads that would help the investigation of the death of pastor Yeremias.

“The government has requested the national police force (Polri) to solve the case lawfully,” said Mahfud MD.

The TGPF Intan Jaya team is also authorized to help solve the murder of two authority personnel and one civilian that took place between September 17-19, 2020. They initially believed that local Papuan armed criminal groups were the perpetrators.
