Indonesia’s Covid Task Force Ask Offices Closed after Employees Tested Positive

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Indonesian Covid-19 Task Force’s spokesman, Wiku Adisasmito, asked for idnewsnowrary shutdowns of offices that have workers who tested positive for Covid-19.

“Please follow up the office cluster by suspending all operations, disinfecting the building, as well as tracing and testing close contacts to minimize the outbreak,” Wiku said in an online press conference held on Tuesday, April 27. 

Quoting data from the Jakarta government, Wiku said that there has been an increasing rate of transmission among office workers in Jakarta over the last two weeks, or since the start of Ramadan.

From April 5 to 11, we found 157 cases in 78 office sites. From April 12 to 18, the number increased to 425 cases from 177 offices.  

Wiku also reminded other companies that they are only allowed to operate under strict health protocols, with no more than 50 percent of workers physically present at the office.
