Indonesia’s Vaccine Rollout Ranks 9th Globally with 90mn Doses Injected

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that so far 90 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been injected into Indonesian citizens. According to Budi, this makes Indonesia ranks 9th in the world for the number of injections.

“In terms of people, 58 million people are inoculated daily, and that makes us the 6th in the world,” Budi Gunadi said in an online press conference, Monday, August 23.

This month, Budi said Indonesia would receive 62.6 million doses of vaccine—a much higher figure than the doses received between January and July, which was 90 million.

The upcoming shipment would include 1.56 million doses of Pfizer Vaccine purchased directly. At the end of August, 4.6 million more doses of Pfizer will arrive via COVAX.

Budi asked regional governments not to hold out on stocks. As directed by President Joko Widodo, existing vaccines must be injected immediately. The ministry’s website also has a page, vaksin.kemkes.go.id, which allows everyone to see the stocks of every district/city, as well as the inoculation rate.

With numerous vaccine brands and types available, Budi appealed to the public not to be picky. He asserted that each vaccine has the same benefit, which is to create antibodies.

“It is also important to help the government keep the Covid-19 vaccine free. All people are given free injections, no one has to pay,” he remarked.
