Jakarta Military Commander: Govt Can Disband FPI If Necessary

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Jakarta Military commander Maj. Gen. Dudung Abdurachman underlined that the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) must not install banners and billboards recklessly in the capital city. The government, he said, could disband the group led by Rizieq Shihab if necessary.

“Disband FPI if necessary! Why are they making rules as they please?” said Dudung after a ceremony event on the preparation of disaster force in Jakarta, Friday, November 20.

Dudung was irritated by the fact that the hard-line group set up banners and billboards calling for revolution and containing provocative words by the FPI leader.

“Satpol PP (Public Order Agency) has many times removed [the banners and billboards] but they are installed again, he said. This is a state of law so people must obey the law. People willing to install billboards are required to pay the tax and must be in certain places. They cannot act as they please as they are the right ones,” Dudung asserted.

The Jakarta Military Command personnel would clean up provocative billboards and take action against those involved in the revolution calls, he added.

“Do not try to disrupt unity and integrity as if you feel like you represent Muslims,” the Regional Military Commander remarked.
