Komnas HAM Awaits Victim’s Statement in Alleged KPI Harassment Case

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) on Tuesday said they are still waiting for MSA – an alleged victim of year-long bullying and sexual harassment at the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) – to reach the human rights group.

“Till this day we are waiting for the arrival of MSA and his lawyer,” said Komnas HAM commissioner Beka Ulung Hapsara on September 7.

He asserted that the commission will wait until the victim is comfortable enough and free from pressure to provide Komnas HAM with his version of the story. In the meantime, they continue to coordinate with KPI management and request their statement on the matter.

Hapsara also said they have filed a letter to the police to confirm a section of the victim’s story that claimed MSA’s previous attempts to file a police report were not heard by authorities.

“If he had actually reported this then how many times and what responses were given by the police,” said Hapsara.
