IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Bogor Deputy Regent Iwan Setiawan spilled that many unlicensed buildings in Puncak area, Cisarua, Bogor, West Java, belong to high-ranking state officials. This hampered the regency’s effort in curbing illegal sites.
“I have lived in Puncak since I was little. The one who ordered control is the central government but it is also them who own the land. And they have a strategic position [in the government],” said Iwan in Cibinong, Bogor, Tuesday, September 8.
If the central government wished to manage the south of Bogor massively, the regency administration would need help.
“We ask for a back up from the central government because high-ranking state officials and former ones have unregistered buildings there. So if such is demolished, it must be all, let us not be picky,” said the Gerindra politician.
The central government had earlier addressed illegal buildings in Puncak areas following Ombudsman Indonesia’s findings related to the Arab Village. Ombudsman member Adrianus Meliala highlighted an unspecified number of immigrants and alleged legal smuggling in the area.
“The land or assets used as business sites, especially villas, are allegedly owned by foreigners and managed by local residents,” he said, suspecting that the land or asset certificates were also under the name of locals.
