Ridwan Kamil Holds Random COVID-19 Rapid Tests for Tourists

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil explained several measures taken by his administration to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during holidays and collective leave days of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.

The strategies were presented to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, via video conference, on Friday, October 30, 2020.

Ridwan said the provincial government conducted random rapid tests for tourists in a number of tourist destinations and road access points to West Java. According to the Regional COVID-19 mitigation task force head of policy committee and economic recovery, the testing was held in 54 points.

“The rapid testing is carried out randomly. If the result turns out to be reactive, it will be followed by a swab test,” said Ridwan, who is familiarly called Kang Emil.

According to him, there are 14 districts or cities in West Java favored by tourists during long holidays. In addition to the rapid tests, the government will also monitor the implementation of the predetermined health protocols.

Ridwan Kamil argued that the COVID-19 tests were crucial to reduce potential infections in times of long holidays in order to prevent the emergence of a new cluster. He asked tourists and travel agents to comply with the health protocols dubbed the 3M, viz. wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap.
