Workers Union Refuse to be Involved in Omnibus Derivatives Discussion

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The Indonesian Workers Union Confederation (KSPI) president, Said Iqbal, announced that the union will not involve itself in the formation of the omnibus job creation law’s derivative regulations.

He said that this is parallel with the general stand expressed by laborers who, up to this day, refuse to accept the omnibus law, especially the cluster on employment.

“Labor workers reject the omnibus law and from this, it would be impossible for laborers to accept the derivative regulations from the job creation law. Moreover being involved in the discussion,” Said Iqbal wrote in Thursday’s press release.

He believes the government will be treating the formulation process under a swift deadline and suspects that the government is only using labor workers’ participation as a tool to legitimize their actions if KSPI gets involved in the formulation.

The KSPI president said that he has learned from the time the DPR treated the inputs from the workers union in formulating the omnibus law, which saw many of their inputs not be included in the final omnibus draft.
