8 suspects in AGO blaze summoned by police on Tuesday

Jakarta – Indonesian authorities private investigators summoned eight suspects on Tuesday over the case of a fire that wrecked the Attorney General’s Workplace (AGO) structure on Sultan Hasanuddin Dalam Street, South Jakarta, on Aug 22, 2020.

The suspects, summoned for questioning on Tuesday at 10 a.m. regional time, comprised T, H, S, K, IS, UAN, R, and NH, General Crimes Director of the National Police’s Bad guy Investigation Department (Bareskrim) Brig. Gen. Ferdy Sambo specified here on Monday.

Five of the eight suspects are recognized as construction employees, while 3 others are a project manager, president director of PT ARM, and an AGO official accountable for a building and construction project within the AGO complex area.

The police private investigators had earlier interrogated 64 witnesses in connection with the AGO blaze event and declared the preliminary outcome of their probe that concluded that the five building and construction employees’ cigarette butts were causal to the blaze.

The police charged the suspects under Articles 55 and 56 of the Indonesian Lawbreaker Code. If condemned, they will undergo a five-year jail term.
