Anies Baswedan Pulls Emergency Brake: Pandemic Will End after Vaccine Found

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the potent Covid-19 vaccine is the last hope to bring back the normal life.

“With realistic hope, this pandemic will end when a safe, effective vaccine is found and distributed evenly in the community,” said Anies in his official statement on Wednesday, September 9, 2020.

However, he argued that the coronavirus antidote will not be available in the next one to two months, but next year, realistically. “While an emergency has already arisen in Jakarta.”

Anies was then determined to reimpose the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) policy starting Monday, September 14, 2020. This was expected to curb virus transmission that is presently out of control.

“Until the vaccine comes, we need to be ready to fight the outbreak by implementing social restrictions seriously and with high discipline,” the governor underlined.

All Jakarta administration officials, he added, are committed to working hard and on full vigilance during this restriction to ease the community’s burden. The government calls on the public to jointly combat the pandemic.

Anies Baswedan considered the outbreak a tough test, which was probably the most severe one in this generation. “But this major ordeal will be less dreadful if we support each other,” he said.
